The Straddie community is one of the most vibrant and diverse communities in Queensland.
Spread out across the northern end of Stradbroke Island, the majority of the population live in the Island’s three major towns: Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout.
More than 2,000 people live permanently on Stradbroke Island, which is not physically connected to the mainland. Even without a bridge, Straddie enjoys quite a strong local economy, supported predominantly by sand mining and tourism industries.
