The Straddie Sand Mining Community Fund (the Fund) is the largest community investment ever made in the history of the Bay Islands. The Fund’s simple goal is to promote long-term quality of life for all community members living on North Stradbroke Island (NSI).
On 30 July 2011 at the Straddie Community Forum, locals suggested a Community Fund be established, and since then, Sibelco Australia has been working to make this a reality. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of Stradbroke’s sand mining profits are already being translated into community projects on the ground. It’s just one of the ways we support our community’s greatest common resource – our people.
